Molds and fungi are found everywhere inside and outside and can grow on almost any substance when moisture is present. When mold levels become abnormally high within a home or building they can lead to severe health hazards and can also result in substantial and expensive damage to walls, ceilings, and framework. Unfortunately due to its ability to grow almost anywhere it is often extremely difficult to locate mold. Especially if it grows behind walls. Often mold can even lie dormant for extended periods of time, until a subsequent period of high humidity causes it to once again flourish.
The techniques utilized for mold detection mostly rely on visual inspections. Unfortunately it is impossible to visually inspect inside all the walls of a building without causing damage to the building itself. Other tests can determine if mold is present but can not pinpoint the location of the mold itself.
