Our History

Founded in 2003, AMK9 became the first Contract Working Dog (CWD) Company to implement a set of performance and training standards. AMK9 has worked closely with the United States Department of Defense (DOD) to develop and implement a Contract Working Dog (CWD) certification standard, which enabled them to confidently deploy CWD teams to protect our troops overseas. Their 320-acre training academy sells operationally readied working dogs and offers handler training to civilians, defense organizations, law enforcement, and private security. AMK9 continues to grow and innovate the K9 industry by combining its proven track record in working dog operations all over the globe.

Our Florida location is lead by Bill Heiser, and has been training detection and patrol canines since 1988. Our Law Enforcement division is nationally recognized for law enforcement K9 training. Our Florida branch specializes selecting and pairing high-drive, superior bred dogs with Police and Law Enforcement. It also offers various types of K9 training including drug detection, bomb detection, cell phone detection, dual purpose and police work. Similar to Bill Heiser, the entire Florida staff of elite trainers also come with extensive experience and knowledge in law enforcement and the military–both here in the United States and in Europe.

AMK9 is proud to offer Commercial K9 services through it’s Woman-Owned-Small-Business Partner, Coast To Coast K9 Teams, bringing with them twenty-four years of experience in the canine detection field and over eleven years of canine maritime experience. Coast to Coast K9 adds a new dimension to AMK9 through it’s relationship with the NNDDA (National Narcotic Detector Dog Association), providing certified teams that meet and exceed all Coast Guard requirements. This division is currently working with several major cruise lines, providing security to civilians in all ports of call in North America. Coast to Coast not only trains dogs, but also full teams, including training and certifying the handlers who are teamed with these K-9s for immediate mobilization.
